OVER 50 YEARS OF PLAY

History

Christ Church Nursery school first opened its doors in 1960. The school was built as an outreach of Christ Church Greenwich and continues to be a vital part of the Christ Church Community. An addition of 11,000 square feet to the already sprawling campus provided an ideal, beautiful space to operate. In the first year, applications exceeded expectations. By the second year of operation, the school doubled its enrollment. Now, in its 59th year, Christ Church Nursery school is a thriving community, notable for its rich curriculum, exceptional teachers, unparalleled facility and warm, inviting community.

EPISCOPAL IDENTITY

CCNS is an Episcopal Preschool, accredited by the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Like Christ Church Greenwich, our school is not solely a community for Christians, but a diverse community that welcomes families of all faiths and backgrounds. CCNS guides each child according to our three pillars of Episcopal Values: Inclusiveness, Kindness, and Peace, without regard to race, religion, culture, nationality or economic status, fostering a deeper understanding of and relationship between mind, body, and soul. Having an Episcopal identity means that we share the core values that help teach our children to strive for justice and peace among all people and the importance of respecting every human being.

From the Director

Dear Families,

Thank you for choosing to explore our preschool program as a part of your search for the right school for your child. We are proud to offer a learning community that values children’s ideas, protects the playfulness of early childhood, creates innovative and nurturing environments, and engages families in their child’s early education.

At Christ Church Nursery School, we believe that every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential that drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it. Inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, our play-based curriculum is predicated on the emerging interests, ideas and questions of the children. A focus on social-emotional development encourages collaboration and excitement for building knowledge, while providing a strong foundation for future learning.

Our experienced, nurturing and creative teachers provide a magnificent balance between structure and play, developing focus and self-expression all built upon positive, loving relationships with their students. Our large, light-filled classrooms, and our new, state-of-the-art playground excite and inspire.

We are delighted at the prospect of partnering with you in providing your child with a quality early education. I encourage you to schedule a visit and see for yourself how truly extraordinary our school is!

Warm Regards,

OUR TEACHERS

Our experienced and dedicated teachers are committed to bringing patience, joy, curiosity, and warmth to the process of learning. They are extremely attentive to the importance of bridging the gap between home and school, communicating plentifully with parents about each child's developments, successes, and any concerns that may arise over the course of the school year. We believe that forming supportive and trusting relationships with families enhances a child's school experiences, growth and development.
