Christ Church
ParenT Association

Our Mission

The Parent Association provides opportunities and experiences in the classroom and beyond, that enrich the preschool years for students and families. These include many social gatherings and events that have become beloved parts of the CCP experience. All of these efforts are accomplished through the dedication of parents, all of whom are automatically members of the PA by virtue of being a parent at the school. Volunteering with the PA is an excellent way to make connections and further our school’s tight-knit community.

Leadership roles

Below are opportunities to head some important roles. To make these roles easier, each has a manual outlining what needs to be accomplished, necessary contacts, and helpful information about how to go about tasks related to the role.
Parent Association Co-Presidents
The Presidents hold overall responsibility for the operations of the PA including holding regular PA meetings, communicating regularly with the CCP director and Board Liaison, scheduling PA programs on the school calendar, fill event chair positions and oversee their work, manage the PA budget, attend PA events, and ensure CCP events and communications withhold a high standard.

Head Class Parent
The Head Class Parent recruits class parents. They are the point-person for in-classroom special events and class parent communications. Class Parents coordinate special in-class activities, provide support to the teachers, and help the parents collectively show their appreciation. It’s a wonderful way to be connected to your child’s educational journey.

Head Buddy Parent
The Head Buddy Parent is responsible for the buddy program, which pairs new families with a buddy partner to welcome them to CCP ahead of the start of the school year.

Yearbook Chair
The Yearbook Chair assembles photos flagged on Remini, uploads photos, lays out the yearbook in Pictavo, and works closely with the director to approve details of the final product. This is a great work-from-home project.

Teacher Appreciation Chair
The Teacher Appreciation Chair organizes teacher breakfasts and gifts for parent conference days (one in October, one in April), as well as helps the PA Presidents coordinate Teacher Appreciation Week in April.

Social Chair
The Social Chair organizes parents-only nights out and/or casual meetups, typically one per semester. They are also welcome to plan other opportunities to bring our parent community together such as morning coffees, and book clubs.

Fundraising Chair(s)
The Fundraising Chairs coordinate opportunities to raise funds both for the PA and CCP, including raffle/silent auctions for the Playground Mixer, Holiday Sing, and Spring Fundraiser.

annual organized events

Welcome Back Beach Picnic (early September)
This casual meet-up is a school-wide event to welcome everyone back after the summer break. It is scheduled on the Saturday after the first week of school in the late afternoon/evening. Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic, but the PA provides some drinks and snacks, and puts up signs to direct people to the gathering, which is usually held in the front section of the beach by the Seaside Center.

Playground Mixer (early October)
This favorite adult-only party on the playground gives parents and teachers the opportunity to socialize at the start of the school year. There is a food truck and a bar, as well as a raffle fundraiser.

Harvest Fair (end of October) This family-friendly party (including siblings) happens on the morning of the last Saturday in October on
the lawn behind the Tomes-Higgins House. Halloween costumes are encouraged, and festivities include a bubble guy, magic show, pumpkin decorating, corn hole, music and snacks.

Holiday Sing (middle of December)
The children perform holiday songs for their parents, and everyone has a chance to celebrate the holidays together before the break. The event includes a raffle for front row seats, a poinsettia sale fundraiser, and sweet treats for everyone to enjoy after the concert.

Spring Fundraiser (April)
Parents and teachers gather to raise funds for a specific CCP initiative. This event is held at different venues around Greenwich and includes refreshments and a silent auction.

End-of-Year Picnic (end of May)
This school-wide event takes place directly after the moving-up ceremonies for the 4s and Connecting Classes. It takes place on the lawn behind the Tomes-Higgins House and includes train and/or pony rides, bouncy houses, bubbles, pizza and ice cream trucks.
